David Brooks argues that becoming a “better man” or a better person, involves making meaningful commitments to things outside of oneself, like family, faith, community, and vocation, and executing those commitments well. He emphasizes the importance of actively engaging with others and understanding them deeply to elevate both oneself and those around you.
