Uncle Sam, which you kindly refer to as ‘our government’ has never really been Uncle Sam. No graduate of Duke Divinity remains an American who can exalt or serve ‘God’ with the truth that sets all Christians free. That is why ‘justice for all’ isn’t real.
That means much of the legislation that has been passed since the beginning, and certainly after Darwin published ‘Origin …’ has been to strengthen ignorance stamped holy. Easter is camouflage for the rib bone fib.
That fact is problematic for more perfect unions because it prevents the social cohesion resulting from justice for all. When literacy suffers, SCOTUS becomes the cornerstone for treason in America. We cannot teach children with a lie and expect democracy to survive.
