Cognitive dissonance short circuits the efficacy of truth in the mind.

Christians who have functional eyes can see Exhibit B, but it does not register as truth that sets them free from the heresy of atonement doctrine. Why?

Cognitive dissonance veils or layers the mind with bias. The bias neutralizes the efficacy of truth. When people covet ignorance that has been stamped holy emergent truth cannot set “the captives free.”

Let’s compare a Stop sign with the rib bone fib. Imagine the calamity that would occur in a single day if people driving cars ignored every stop sign or red light they encountered.

Now imagine that Christmas and Easter allow you to think ignoring the ‘Stop sign’ is a good idea because you’re going to heaven and the truth doesn’t matter. Let’s pretend that you’ve been told you can run the stop sign because “God will make all things work together for our good.” (loosely quoted)

The Klan believes its okay to run the stop sign. The ADL wants respect for the ignorance that makes it possible to run the Stop sign, and SCOTUS says “the freedom of religion cause must protect the perjured truth” that makes some folk think teaching children with a lie (an act that equates to ‘running the Stop sign’) is okay because “God will use the lie to make America great again.”

A normal mind would see this as problematic because such judicial stupidity would become an impediment to our pursuit of justice for all.

Minds infected with cognitive dissonance are inclined to say “Let’s run the ‘Stop sign’ and make America a Christian nation.”

When grace infects cognitive dissonance with the truth that sets us free we all agree that our children should not be taught with a lie (or eat fruit from a forbidden tree).

Such an accord leads SCOTUS to dismiss Adam and Eve as a viable path for social cohesion. Dismissing Adam and Eve in favor of Darwinism and DNA, et al. drives a stake through the KKK, the Christians Right, and many conspiracy theories driving the ‘dumb’ and ‘dumber’ clubs. ‘God’ cannot make stupidity work “together for our good.”
