What happens when thousands of graduates decide that now is the time to free themselves from a lie that has corrupted the teachings from Jesus? What happens when the butterfly effect becomes the domino effect, Darwin and DNA replace childish make-believe, and Congress is freed from ignorance stamped holy? Will we take our proper place among the nations, stop burning coal, modify our desire to spell integrity with a lower case I, and embrace capitalism in a manner that allows the 1% to join in our global pursuit of justice for all?
If Jesus could magically appear and say “the kingdom of heaven is at hand, stop preaching with atonement doctrine and love one another with truth instead of imperfect intellectualism” would the Christian left and right bend the knee, repent, and rejoice in their newfound freedom to use science to undermine the potential for chaos on our horizon? Must creation lie in the path of careless love?
We can empower equality, liberty, and justice for all by refusing to teach children with a lie. When we renounce the fraud that leads all Christians and Jews into the shackles that sustain institutionalized sophistry the whole planet can begin to embrace a reality that no one would be ashamed of.
