Let’s imagine a conversation between members of the inner circle of the ADL, after God has waved a magic wand and made them all see and speak the truth.
first speaker: “How are we going to seriously confront anti-Semitism?”
second speaker: “We must convince everyone that we are all cousins who ascended from pond scum.”
the pope: “If we do that we will loose the imagery of Christ as well as our ability to use fear to undermine the common sense that drives humanitarianism.”
first speaker: “Sacrifices must be made when we bring an end time to atonement doctrine’s ability to generate cognitive dissonance.”
joint chiefs: “We need cognitive dissonance. It helps us divide America with chaos, division, and strife. See how we’ve neutralized accountability? If we cannot associate tag the memory of Jesus with the threat of eternal damnation it will undermine our efforts to make America a Christian nation.”
third speaker: “If Truth is grace from God and we live in denial of it we walk with ‘a form of godliness that denies the power thereof.’ If we do not renounce the validity of Adam and Eve, and our willingness to covet perjured truth, we can only pretend to be children of God. If God is real and we don’t pretend we must renounce Original Sin.”
chief justice of the mire: “If we do replace biblical creationism with Darwinism and DNA we will open the door for the promised tribulation.”
asimov’s mutant: “Actually, it will reverse many of the problems rupturing social cohesion with chaos, division, and strife.”
chief justice of the mire: “Why should we admit we are wrong to sustain the primitive fundamentalism that has clothed us with the delusional belief a rib bone fib can bring the promise of salvation and eternal life?”
asimov’s mutant: “I suppose we could say ‘God’ works in mysterious ways. If God could ask each of you ‘is it healthy to teach children with half truths and hyperbole’ how would each of you respond? Just remember, your responses could be translated and read by anyone plugged into the WWW.”
